President of Koemi Tecmo would ‘love’ to make a Mario themed Dynasty Warriors title.
With Nintendo opening up its first party intellectual properties more openly to developers, we’ve seen some interesting projects made in recent years by other developers, such as Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Pokemon Conquest, and more recently Hyrule Warriors: Definite Edition, which comes out this Friday for Nintendo Switch.
One of Hisashi Koinuma, president of Koei Tecmo, biggest dreams is develop a Mario centered Dynasty Warriors title. If we were to go back into time 10 years, the idea would of none to zero, but with all the recent collabs Koei Tecmo and Nintendo have produced in recent years, it seems that the idea isn’t an if but more of when.
“I’d like to have an opportunity to work on Nintendo’s Mario,” Koinuma said. “Basically, he’s a character I’ve been playing with ever since I was a kid, so if I could do something with him, I’d be really happy.”
Koinuma also dropped the request of possibly working on a Star Wars Warriors title, but would more than likely be ultimately shutdown due to a deal between Electronic Arts and Disney back in 2013, giving rights to EA on the Star Wars license for producing their Star Wars videogames.
Would you be down for a Star Wars and/or Mario themed Dynasty Warriors game by Koei Tecmo?
