It looks like Nintendo might be under some hot fire right now with it’s customers right now, with it being hard to find certain amiibo figures online or in stores. Since day one of amiibo, consumers have had difficulty finding these figures, and they may be gone for production, according to Nintendo in a statement in response to Destructoid.
In the response, Nintendo mentioned how some amiibo figures will continued being produced, such as “Mario and Link” amiibos, but other less popular amiibo figures such as Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, and Marth may be in the verge of extinction of production insistence. If you remember the fiasco where a retailer mentioned that those figures would be discontinued, consumers were flared with anger just because they weren’t bought during it’s initial release.
Does this mean those three figures are dead? It seems so, since Nintendo wouldn’t say which one’s specifically would be continued in production. Read below the official statement given by Nintendo.
We will aim for certain amiibo to always be available. These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment.”
