Smash Bros udpdate: 11-14-14

The week for Smash Bros. has once again come to a close for this week. With this being the last friday before the launch of the console version, it’ll be possible for you to be Smashing in glorious HD in one week in North America and 2 weeks in Europe. For today’s Smash Bros. update, Sakurai showed us Smash Tour, a mode exclusive to the Wii U version. In Smash Tour, it’s possible to have up to 4 players locally playing in a board type place, with each turn a player moving a certain number of spaces depending on the number rolled on the dice. Similar to Smash Run found on the 3DS version, you can collect and gain stats throughout the match, as seen above with the icons. “Smash Tour is hard to explain in words” Sakurai mentioned on his post. He also noted that if you try playing the game mode three times with your friends, it’ll feel more like a party, so go ahead and try it out. Here’s Sakurai full comment on Miiverse regarding the Pic of the Day.

Pic of the day. Smash Tour is really hard to explain in words–it’s tough to give out guidance tips with such limited space to type!! So I’ll stop myself from saying too much–just try playing this mode three times with your friends. Smash Bros. will definitely feel even more like a party if you try this out.

Sakurai also gave us an additional screenshot on Miiverse showing more of Smash Tour. You’ll have 3 options for a board size in Smash Tour, ranging from Small, Normal, and Big. You also have the option of turning on the Custom Moves for fighters if you so choose to. Interestingly enough, if you have various custom movesets for a character, you can also choose to put it ‘random’ for which Custom Moveset you receive. Which mode will you be playing in? Here’s Mr. Sakurai’s comment form Miiverse and the screenshot he posted.

There are three types of game boards. If you turn on the Custom Fighters option, the fighters will be preset with custom special moves. The number on a fighter’s portrait on the game board indicates which custom move set that fighter is using–this also adds to the randomness of this mode.
