Smash Bros update: 9-3-14

Today’s Smash Bros update has now gone live. It features the Wii U version. Sakurai gave us a new detail, and it was regarding the color/suit scheme available for each character. Normally in previous games, you were limited to 4 different color schemes, but for Super Smash Bros. Wii U you’ll be able to choose up to 8 color schemes. As seen above, you can see Varia Suit, Fusion Suit, Gravity Suit from Super Metroid, and the Dark Suit (right to left.) It’ll be interesting if this feature makes it to the 3DS version of the game. Here’s what Mr. Sakurai had to say on Miiverse for today’s Pic of the Day.

Pic of the day. Until now, you were only able to choose from four, or sometimes five or six colors for each character. This time, though, all characters have eight colors to choose from! The first four color schemes for Samus are based off her Varia Suit, Fusion Suit, Gravity Suit from Super Metroid, and the Dark Suit.

And Sakurai gave us the additional picture for the next 4 suits for Samus. Starting from the right, we see the Gravity Suit, Green Samus, Light Suit, and Dark Samus. Players have now have an extensive choice for player looks. Here’s the picture Sakurai left of Miiverse and his description.

…And here she is in the color schemes of the Gravity Suit from Metroid Prime, Green Samus (a regular in the Smash series), the Light Suit, and Dark Samus. A total of eight colors.

And to top it off, Sakurai gave us one last picture. It wasn’t 4 different Villagers we hadn’t seen yet until now. 2 new female looks, and 2 new male looks. Here’s the picture Sakurai left on Miiverse and the description for the picture.

You can choose between four male and four female Villagers to play with. The designs for their faces and clothes are different. And here are the four Villagers we haven’t shown you yet.
