Smash Bros update: 7-4-14

After a 2 week absence of the website, I’m finally back, and boy oh boy, I got lots of news covering for you. Let’s start off today with the daily Smash Bros update given by Mr. Sakurai. Sakurai was courteous enough to reveal a new stage for the 3DS version. The new stage was comes from the Pac-Man series. The stage is called Pac-Maze, and it brings the players to a stage full of platforms, fruits, pellets, and ghosts. You’ll be able to jump around the stage and take the risk of possibly getting hit by those pesky ghosts! In the picture, we see Yoshi at the very top, Pac-Man is the right center, and Kirby at the very bottom reaching for the dot. Mr. Sakurai made note on his Miiverse post that once you acquire 100 dots, you’ll have the ability to get a power dot to your color and be able to defeat the ghosts. Here’s what Mr. Sakurai had to say for today’s screenshot:

Pic of the day: Pac-Maze is a stage exclusive to the 3DS version, created in a Pac-Man motif. If you eat 100 Pac-Dots, Power Pellets will appear in your color.

Additionally, Sakurai also gave us an additional screenshot given further explanation to his original post. As mentioned before, once you eat 100 dots, you’ll be invincible towards the ghosts and will be able to defeat them. But one very important detail was left out. The ghost will only become vulnerable to defeat to the player who got the Power Pellet, making the ghosts on the other players screens looking normal. Sakurai went on to praise this ability, something only the 3DS could accomplish. Here’s the explanation Sakurai gave on Miiverse and additionally the screenshot he provided.
